OUR COLLECTION

We have been building and researching our collections since 1957. Our valuable collections record Port Macquarie's and Australia's cultural and social history. They are an irreplaceable resource for understanding the past, reflecting on the present and looking into the future.

Through our collections we tell the stories of Port Macquarie's rich and unique history and heritage. Many of the museum's collection objects can be viewed online, in our exhibitions, or from time to time, in exhibition loans to other organisations.

Currently, Port Macquarie Museum holds a collection of over 20,000 objects, 10,000 archive items and 100,000 photographs. Our volunteer collection managers and curators research, document and preserve the collections for present and future generations.

Collection Donations

We're always interested in new objects and different stories. We welcome donations to our collection that meet our collection policy. It is best to discuss your donation offer with us first.

We will want to know about the history of the item; when, where and who used it; stories about the object and people connected to it, and its present condition.
