We're always interested in new objects and different stories. We welcome donations to our collection that meet our collection policy. It is best to discuss your donation offer with us first.
We will want to know about the history of the item; when, where and who used it; stories about the object and people connected to it, and its present condition.
Our Conservation Policy guides the conservation management of our collection. The Policy recognises overarching legislative and best practice principles and guidelines that inform conservation of cultural material and sets out the approach and strategies used to manage risks associated with collection access balanced with long term collection preservation needs.
Our Digitisation Policy ensures our collection is preserved for posterity and helps us to make our collection content accessible for research, knowledge creation and enjoyment.
Digitising the collection improves access, captures at risk material and reduces manual handling of vulnerable materials for the benefit of future generations.
Our Interpretation Policy guides and sets out principles on how we use the Museum collection to engage visitors and users. It places the collection front and centre in our interpretation, basing our interpretation on best research and using a range of interpretive techniques and programs to match the needs of diverse audiences.
